If you use Google Chrome on your computer or Android phone, stop what you are doing for a minute.
Google has just issued an emergency alert affecting billions of users worldwide.
This is not to cause panic, but to act fast. A new “invisible” security flaw has been discovered, and hackers already know how to use it. The good news? The solution already exists and is free.
What is happening? (Explained simply)
Imagine your house has a super secure armored door.

However, someone discovered that there is a small window in the basement that was left unlocked and that no one knew existed. Worse: burglars are already entering through this window.
In the tech world, we call this “unlocked window” a Zero-Day Vulnerability. The name comes from the fact that the program creators had “zero days” to fix the problem before it was used by criminals.

Where is the danger?
The problem is in the browser’s “engine” (a part called V8 or graphics components). It is the piece responsible for making websites load fast and run videos and interactions.
When you access a malicious site, which may be disguised as fake news or a promotion link, it can use this flaw to confuse the browser. The result? The site may be able to “read” your computer or phone’s memory.
What can they steal?
- Passwords saved in the browser;
- Credit card information;
- Access to your email and social media accounts.
How to protect yourself right now (Step by Step)

The only way to close this door is to update the browser. Google has released the fix version. See how to check if you are already safe:
On Computer (Windows or Mac):

On Mobile (Android):
Why does this happen so often?
You may be wondering: “Why does Chrome have so many problems this year?”. The answer is that modern browsers are extremely complex, almost like an entire operating system.

Furthermore, criminals are using Artificial Intelligence to find these flaws faster than humans can fix them.
The best defense is to maintain the habit of updating your apps whenever possible. Do not click “remind me later”. When it comes to security, later may be too late.
Share this alert with your family on WhatsApp. Everyone’s digital security depends on being informed!
